March/April 2010 Update

The 2,600 Christmas trees that we planted last year made it through the winter relatively unscathed. We lost a few to some heavy snow pack and a couple of others to a slip or two with the tractor. A little rust has come out in the needles as the weather has warmed; we hope that a good Spring feeding will help the trees beat out the rust.

Salvaged materials from several years of collecting old windows, scrap wood and old hinges helped us build a small greenhouse. With only $30 in new materials for support structure, we were able to craft a rudimentary 5' x 8' greenhouse to start our seeds. Early warm weather in late March and the beginning of April has them off to a great start. We are still in Vermont, however, and we aren't planning on putting the starts into the garden until early to mid-May. If the weather holds, we may try and sneak in some early peas and radishes.

Plans for the powwows remain limited right now as a new job has put some constraints on our schedule. Grandmother Two Feathers plans to attend several events in Vermont and New Hampshire throughout the 2010 season. Wandering Moose and Jennifer will be helping out at the Great Northern Moose and North Country Inter-Tribal powwows as in years past. Plans for additional events are being made as vacation and work schedules permit.

Crafting continues with several new ideas evolving each day. New items that will appear in our vending space this year include supplies for crafting direct from Mother Nature including claws, teeth, hides and fur. Stop back for updates on the supplies that we will have available.
